  • Two Huge Scouting Events this Month

{mosimage}Apparently, others are finally learning what we have known for years... Rockets are fun! UROC has been asked to assist with two very large scout events in the next couple of weeks. Bruce Bell has taken on the coordination and planning for these events (Thanks Bruce!) We would like to get as many UROC members in attendance at both events as possible.

The event this weekend (Camp O Ree) takes place at the Miller Sports Park and will involve assisting a large number of scouts in launching their rockets as well as a few demo launches.

  • Volunteer Contest at Pioneer

{mosimage}Tim Thomas of Giant Leap Hobbies and also a UROC member, has put together a great raffle for the upcoming Pioneer launch. He has contacted Tom Rouse who will be sending over some motor hardware and Tim will be donating a 30.00 Gift Certificate for GLR products, and an Estes D-Region Tomahawk. Everyone who works a range duty shift at the Pioneer Open & launch , either day will get one ticket per shift.

At the end of the launch 3 tickets will be drawn. First ticket gets first pick of the loot, second picks next and third gets what is left. More shifts get more tickets. Whoever hauls out the Trailer gets 3 tickets, same for hauling it back. This contest is just for fun, but, as Tim says "it is a small thank you to the people who help out!" Make sure you stop by and tell Tim thanks for supporting your club.

{mosimage}With the FVM-2 static test scheduled for tomorrow (Thursday, May 1), ATK Thiokol is expecting close to 400 guests, plus approximately 800 students who will visit the Rocket Garden between 10 a.m. and noon. Due to the congestion anticipated with the school buses, vans, etc., the parking lot by the Rocket Garden (main plant) will be closed to all personal vehicles.

  • April 2008 Meeting Minutes

If you didn’t make it to this club meeting, you really missed out.  You missed Fred Williams singing!  But more about that later…

Neal Baker welcomed everyone to the UROC 10K Walk.  (We were in the south building, in the corner and had to walk a long way to get there!)  Vice President Doug Robinson was excused for the evening. Todd & Jared Turnblum and Wid Tolman were welcomed as first time attendees.  Club membership cards were handed out.

Words of Wisdom

Running a damp cloth through your airframe after flying will clean out powder residue and keep your piston moving freely.
