February 2018 Meeting Minutes

General Club Administrative Meeting was held on February 12, 2018. 
Meeting took place in Room N1100 at the Salt Lake County Complex. There were 10 people in attendance.

  • New secretary – Kim unable to attend
    • Chris Baker appointed to secretary
  • Current financial status
    • $6159 + some money in a paypal account
    • Foreseeable expenditures
      • Maybe new trailer
      • Post use at FHF around $250
    • Status of BLM permits for FHF and Bonneville
      • Cannot get hold of BLM contact, awaiting call back.
    • Status of FAA waivers for FHF and Bonneville
      • Filed for FHF awaiting approval
        • 10,000 feet AGL
      • Have not heard anything back from FAA at this point
    • UROC night at Grizzlies Game on 3/24
      • Need member help for display
      • Tickets are only 10 dollars, 2 dollars of every ticket sold from our ticketing link goes to UROC.
    • Judge memorial rocket class – Intro talk introduction to rocket safety and basics of rocketry
      • Thursday – 8:55, 10:25, 11:10, 1:10
      • Or on Friday – 9:40, 11:10, 12:20, 2:00
      • Jed volunteered for part of one day
    • Equipment party and trailer clean-up
      • Trailer is located at Neal’s house, will publish address and times to website.
      • Things that need to be done
        • Launch control boxes need new ends
        • Test and fix wireless setup
        • Investigate a solar setup to trickle charge batteries
        • Re-evaluate at cleanup time for more tasks
      • March meeting – 3/12 – Equipment familiarization and range safety class
        • Write instructions for range setup and safety
      • Spring launch 3/17- 3/18
        • ‘O’ class sugar motor test
          • Awaiting safe motor specs from rocketeer
        • Meetings – plans for upcoming meetings
          • Kip about his high-altitude test in Aprl
          • Propellant making class w/ Jim Yehle to be determined
          • Arduino Based Altimeter w/ Jim Yehle to be determined
          • Talks about possible Space X tele conference new member Paul will be investigating.
        • Hellfire planning
          • Slogans for Hellfire 23
            • Hellfire Prime
          • UROC Group Project - Led by Jed Marti
            • NAR sponsored Saturn V project
            • Current setup
              • 1:24 scale
              • 15 feet tall
              • 3 stage
                • Main stage 16in diameter
                  • 5 ‘k’ or larger cluster
                • Second stage
                  • Single ‘K-L’
                • Third stage
                  • Single ‘I’
                • Need dedicated volunteers to help assemble this by 2019 HellFire.
              • Misc topics to be carried to next meeting
                • Should experimental motor flyers pay for broken equipment when motors fail?
                • Need to add a meeting in June before Hellfire
                • Is there a need for exp motor users to provide data on untested motors?
