Since its founding in 1982, AeroTech has grown to become the largest supplier of "D" through "G" power composite model rocket motors, mid-power rocket kits and related products and "H" through "N" high power rocket motors in the world. If you have flown any mid-power or high-power rockets. You have no doubt used an Aerotech product.
AeroTech has been producing rocket motors for the motion picture special effects industry since the early 1980`s. AeroTech rocket motors have been featured in numerous motion pictures since then, and you can look for them in "Iron Eagle", Delta Force 2", "Tank Girl", "Star Trek: Generations," "Tomorrow Never Dies," and "October Sky". AeroTech also supplies rocket motors to educational institutions and rocket parts to other hobby rocket kit manufacturers. AeroTech kits and motors have been featured in a National Geographic article and PBS television show on thunderstorm research, a Travel Channel special on Ray Halm`s "Aries" project, a "Junkyard Wars" episode and a Discovery Channel "Mythbusters" program on the legend of Wan Hu.
The core strength of AeroTech`s product line is its composite propellant rocket motor technology. Compared to conventional black powder propellant, composite propellant can produce up to three times the power for the same propellant weight. In addition, composite propellant technology permits the creation of rocket motors with performance characteristics and sound and visual effects not possible with black powder propellant technology.
Charlie will be onsite to talk about Aerotech's newest products, answer questions and remind us just how cool Aerotech is!

The Alphabet Contest is a challenging contest where pre-planning can win or lose the game for you. The challenge is to successfully fly the same rocket on as many different letters in the alphabet as possible. So, the same rocket on an A, B, C or a H, I, J, K? Doesn't matter about the impulse its all about the design and forethought. Clair Mills came up with this contest last year and it's back for another year. This is a great way for folks at different Cert Levels to compete with each other.
1) Select any rocket with active recovery* that flies on a single motor, and bring it to the contest table to be registered
2) Each time that rocket successfully flies** on a different letter*** of motor, bring it back to the contest table to be recorded
3) At 4 PM on Saturday, whoever has flown their rocket on the most different letters of motor, will be declared the winner
4) Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, with the winners picking in that order from the available prizes
fine print:* Active recovery means parachute, streamer, helicopter, glider, etc. No tumble or "bounce" recovery.
** A successful flight means that the rocket has to completely leave the pad and be recovered in condition to fly again. The judge has complete discretion as to whether a flight is considered successful. No strapping a 1/2 A on the side of your Level 3 bird!
*** A "letter" includes 1/8 A, 1/4 A, 1/2 A, A, B, C... through M

After 10 years, Tim Boschert has decided to step away from his role as Tripoli Prefect for the Tripoli Utah Chapter (UROC). Tim will continue to be a member of the club and will continue his Das Rocket's motor business. Tim has done a great job as prefect over the years. He has been willing to help new members with their certs and been a great source of knowledge for all UROC's members. He has done a tremendous job in the Prefect capacity and has helped to certify many of our members into high power. Unfortunately, with his leaving, the club is forced to find a new Prefect to take his place.
This position is not one to be taken lightly. Since the Prefect is the leader of the Prefecture, this individual must have knowledge of the rules of the Tripoli Rocketry Association, understand the proper operation of a safe rocket flying environment and have an understanding of the laws and regulations regarding High Power Rocketry. The minimum requirements for a member to be a Prefect is one year as an active Tripoli member and must have attained certification level 2.
One of the most important functions of the Prefect is to assist new members in receiving their certifications. The Prefect can bestow level 1 and level 2 certifications and administer the level 2 certification examinations. It is important that the Prefect make themselves consistently available at launches and other times to help make these certifications a positive and successful experience for the members.
The prefect is also responsible for obtaining the required authorizations from Tripoli for launches such as our Research launches as well as all the insurance documentation required each year. This individual must work closely with the other officers of UROC to coordinate the needs of the club as a whole. The Prefect is also UROC’s representative to the rest of the Tripoli Rocketry Association; they are expected to put forth a positive image of our club to the rest of Tripoli as well as the public at large.
Tim will continue in his role as prefect through HellFire and an election for our new Tripoli Prefect will take place at the September UROC meeting. If you are interested in being considered for the position, please make sure to attend the meeting. Be prepared to give a brief statement about yourself and your campaign platform. Only current Tripoli members will be allowed to vote or run in this election. You must bring your membership card to the meeting! The winner of the election will be in office for the remainder of 2016, through 2017 until officer elections in January of 2018.
If you would like to contact Tim in regards to the position and any other questions, please contact him here.
