Fred William's preps a rocket for competition.UROC's Pioneer 2008 Contest will be held on Saturday, May 31st and Sunday, June 1st. (weather permitting).

Every UROC member and  independent sport flyer is strongly encouraged to enter at least one event. The Open Spot Landing is the simplest one to try: an Alpha with a 1/2A6-2 works great! That same Alpha with an A8-3 will do okay in A Parachute Duration.

Contest flying will be from 9:00 to 5:00 each day and the contest range will be to the right of the Sport Range.  The Contest fee will be five dollars which helps us offset the cost of ribbons and trophies.  You must a NAR member to compete. If you have never tried NAR competition, here are some suggestions in order to get you started. Get onto the NAR website and look up the US Model Rocket Sporting Code, also known as the Pink Book. This is where you will find the rules for all the events. Look into the rules carefully and build around them. Have a notebook with you and take notes on your own flights and your competitors strategies and tactics. (Model rocket competitors don't keep secrets. They will be quite open to your questions!) And of course, always remember to have fun!

If you have questions or need a little guidance, you can contact our Contest Directors by emailing them at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
