ufo-03-june.gifUROC's October launch looks to be a promising event. With the cancellation of the Fire Restrictions this week by the BLM and State Fire Agency we just need to keep our fingers crossed so that the weather-gods cooperate with our plans. The final list of contest events for the "UROC Fall Open" or "UFO" have just been released:

Dates October 21 and 22

  • A Parachute Duration -  The purpose of this event is to achieve the longest flight duration time utilizing parachute recovery.
  • B Streamer Duration -  The purpose of this event is to achieve the longest flight duration time utilizing a single streamer for recovery.
  • B Helicopter Duration - The purpose of this competition is to achieve the longest flight duration using an autorotating recovery system.
  • B Boost Glider - The purpose of this competition is to achieve the longest flight duration time.
  • Open Spot Landing - The purpose of this competition is to land the entry so that the tip of its nose cone is closest to a predetermined spot on the ground.
  • Science/Future Fiction Scale - The purpose of this competition is to product a flying replica of either a fictional or a seriously proposed, but unbuilt rocket vehicle that differs from Sport Scale Competition (Rule 53) only in the nature of the prototype and substantiation data.

The Entry fee for the Fall Open is $5.00, this will allow you to compete in all of the competitions listed. In the event of iffy weather a decision will be made no later than 11:00 AM  as to what will be the contest's next step.
