If you have received the latest (May 2007) Model Rocketeer, take a good look at the proposed rule changes and make your vote known! Of particular interest for UROC is the last proposal, RCP # 2005-106, which installs a set of rules that would allow the use of altimeters in altitude events.
Given that UROC has difficulty getting people to volunteer for tracking duty (and just having the volunteers is not enough! The volunteers and contestants must be ready AT A SET TIME...), this proposal would allow us to have more altitude events without the "time window" constraints.

The proposal would allow a Contest Director to decide if theodolites or electronics would determine altitude (but not both).

The altimeter must meet certain criteria: Stock commercial units which may not be altered in any manner and provide validated results. Two units that currently meet these requirements are the Adept A1 (Does UROC have one of these units?) and the Perfectflite Alt 15K/WD.

A relatively simple check-in procedure is included that verifies the altimeter and placement in the rocket. Return is similar to Eggloft: the altimeter may only be removed in the presence of the Returns Official (in our case, the CD/RSO).

This would open up a lot more events for us, including straight altitude, cluster altitude and scale altitude. In addition, you could also try your hand at staging! (And before someone brings it up, No, You Can Not Enter A Boosted Dart!)

ACT NOW!!! YOU HAVE UNTIL JUNE 30th TO GET YOUR BALLOT IN!!!!!!!!!
