Initial Report Indicates GO for the Flats Featured

Our advance scouting party (Steve Anderson and his family) arrived at the edge of the salt this afternoon around 4:00pm. He called me to let me know the salt looks very dry and didn't show any signs of moisture from the earlier rains this week. The weather reports are in flux right now but it looks like Friday is going to be very good weather and then possible rain on Saturday. Moral of this story? Fly earlier rather than later.

Other HellFire news... Make sure to pick up a copy of the Salt Lake Tribune tomorrow for a special HellFire surprise. Another good reason to fly on Friday is that KSL is planning on being out there that day. It'll be a great time to catch your 15 minutes of fame.

We'll keep monitoring the weather and trying to provide updates to this website throughout the weekend. However, I would not expect a lot of updates as the hotels do not have internet access... go figure.  Nonetheless, we'll try to provide some minimal updates to the site throughout the weekend. If you have questions, are lost, or need help, call 801-647-8287. If you don't get an immediate answer, make sure to leave a message, we'll call you as soon as we recieve the message (cell signals are tricky on the flats sometimes).

if you have never been to HellFire before head west about 1.5 hours from Salt Lake City west on I-80. Take Exit 4 and follow the roadsigns leading you to the "Bonneville Raceway." Once you reach the end of the paved road you'll see a huge vast plain of salt... In the middle of this should be some orange barricades. Follow these orange barricades, they'll be spaced about every 1/3 of a mile or so all the way out to the launch site.

Remember, spectating is free. Make sure to bring lots and lots of water (NO Food vendors will be on site). We will have somebody selling bottled water but that's about it for refreshments.

See you out there. Make sure to check out all the HellFire Information on this site.
