New Prefect Elected for Tripoli Utah/UROC Featured

berthas1With Kent Spillman's imminent departure as UROC's Prefect, the election for our new Tripoli Prefect took place at the UROC general club meeting on Monday, October 8th. Effective immediately, Tripoli Utah/UROC's new Prefect is Tim Boschert. Tim is a level 3 flyer and one of UROC's strongest experimental motor proponents. He has been a member of UROC for years. Tim will hold the position of Prefect for the remainder of 2007, through 2008 until officer elections in January of 2009.

One of the most important functions of the Prefect is to assist new members in receiving their certifications. As Prefect Tim can bestow level 1 and level 2 certifications and administer the level 2 certification examination. It is important that the Prefect make themselves consistently available at launches and other times to help make these certifications a positive and successful experience for the members.

The prefect is also responsible for obtaining the required authorizations from Tripoli HQ for launches such as our Research launches as well as all the insurance documentation required each year.

Tim will be working closely with the other officers of UROC to coordinate the needs of the club as a whole. The Prefect is also UROC’s representative to the rest of the Tripoli Rocketry Association; they are expected to put forth a positive image of our club to the rest of Tripoli as well as the public at large.

While we will miss the fine job Kent Spillman has done as our Tripoli Prefect UROC welcomes Tim and looks forward to a positive and exciting future for Tripoli Utah/UROC.

If you get a chance, drop Kent a quick note and let him know how much we will miss having him at our launches and meetings and also let Tim know we appreciate his willingness to put his time and effort into making UROC the best it can be.
