June Launch Cancellation

Plane drops fire retardant on a Utah Wildfire 2013 Plane drops fire retardant on a Utah Wildfire 2013

The Frank Hunt Field launch site along the Pony Express Road is tinder dry and windy. According to the Northern Utah Interagency Fire Center the fire condition has been raised to high. Although an outright ban has not been issued yet, we fully expect this to occur and we have been advised against flying. In keeping with UROC's practice of following the suggestions of the experts on this matter the June Launch is cancelled.

We ask that all UROC club members avoid all rocketry activities in the west desert until the fire conditions have improved. Remember that the National Association of Rocketry and Tripoli Rocketry Association Site Owner's insurance does not cover you unless at a club sponsored event (approved by the officers and board of directors of the Utah Rocket Club as well as the United States Bureau of Land Management). If you cause a range fire in the desert by rocket activities you are on your own. The club's FAA waivers, Special Recreational Permits, and Landowner insurance are not in force at any time other than during actual club events

We are still looking forward to Hellfire 18 on the Salt Flats and hope you will be ready for a great launch.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact UROC Officers.
