The Utah Rocket Club is an organization supporting safe activities through the sport and science of hobby rocketry. UROC has been active in Utah since the early 1980s.
We welcome anyone with an interest in rocketry to join us. Our membership spans all ages and families are welcome.

Dot Hunt gave the treasurers report. It was mentioned that some of the equipment is getting old and might need to be replaced next year. Frank Hunt gave the NAR report. The NAR will be changing their website and upgrading it. Watch for the changes. They are also holding a 50th anniversary of the NAR organization by helping 50,000 kids launch their first rocket. The children get a certificate. As of last count it was 7800 kids who had launched. The NAR representative for the club for next year will be Randall Redd.
The launch for this month will be on Nov. 21st and will be a Tripoli Research Launch. The trailer will go out to the launch site. You must be Tripoli certified to launch. See the website for more details. Steve Anderson told about the contest results. They are posted on the web. The medals will be given out at the Christmas Party. There were 15 registered flyers. Steve also told us about Pioneer to be held next spring. Watch for details on the events for that launch. The Christmas Party was discussed and details given. Register early so we know how many to plan for. The ham, turkey and roast beef is being ordered. Fred went over the schedule for the launches for 2010. We will try for the 3rd weekend for the most part. A picnic is planned for July. Hellfire was discussed. Because it falls the same weekend as NARAM we will most likely have a Tripoli Experimental Launch for Hellfire this year are tentatively. The dates for 2010 will be Jan 16, Feb. 20, March 20, April 17, May 22*, June 26*, July 17 - picnic, July 30 - Aug 6 NARAM, Aug 7&8, Hellfire, Sept. 18, Oct. 16, Nov. 20, Dec. 13 - Christmas Party, Dec. 18, Jan. 15, 2011, Feb 19, 2011. The club meetings will be held again on the 2nd Monday of each month. Show and Tell: Gary Clark, our resident tool junkie, brought a show and tell. It was a Fin Jig to help with fin alignment. They mentioned something about Art Rose but by that time I was lost. But the male club members seemed very impressed with the fin jig thing. |
